The John Deere 4520 was introduced in 1971 as part of the John Deere 20 series, replacing earlier models and offering improvements in power and operator comfort. Production ran for only two years, ending in 1972. This tractor features a John Deere 4.0L (244 ci) 4-cylinder diesel engine, delivering approximately 71 engine horsepower and 62 PTO horsepower. The engine's robust design contributed to the tractor's reliability. The 4520 primarily featured a collar-shift transmission with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears, providing a good range of speeds for various field operations. It came standard with a 540 RPM PTO, offering power take-off capabilities for implements.
