Case IH HYDRO-86 Tractor Parts

The Case IH Hydro 86, produced between 1981 and 1984, was part of the 86 series, known for their advancements in operator comfort and efficiency. It featured an International Harvester (IH) D-358 5.9L 6-cylinder diesel engine, producing approximately 82 engine horsepower. This engine's displacement ensured ample power for a variety of tasks. A key feature was its hydrostatic transmission, offering infinite speed control and ease of operation, a departure from traditional gear-driven tractors. The Hydro 86 provided approximately 68 PTO horsepower, available in the standard 540 RPM configuration. Its hydraulic system delivered around 15 GPM of flow, with typically two remote valves for implements. The 3-point hitch was a Category II, offering a lift capacity of around 4,700 lbs. Common applications included row crop work like planting and cultivating, hay baling and moving, livestock feeding and manure handling, and light tillage. Compared to gear-driven 86 series tractors, the Hydro 86 offered superior ease of use, especially for tasks requiring frequent speed changes or precise control. However, it sometimes lacked the raw pulling power of its gear-driven counterparts in very heavy tillage applications.
