The Case IH 3588 was part of the System 88 series, introduced to provide farmers with more powerful and feature-rich options. Production spanned from 1981 to 1984. At its heart is the International Harvester DT-466 diesel engine, a 466 cubic inch (7.6L) inline six-cylinder powerplant, delivering approximately 170 gross horsepower. The engine's reliable design made it a favorite among operators. The 3588 typically featured a partial power shift transmission providing multiple speeds, enhancing operational flexibility. It boasts a PTO horsepower of around 145-150 HP and offered both 540 and 1000 RPM PTO options. The hydraulic system provided around 28 GPM of flow, with typically two remote valves for implement control. It came standard with a Category II 3-point hitch. Farmers frequently employed the 3588 in row crop operations, hay production, livestock management, and tillage work.
